Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Power Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Power Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition Switch "OFF"

2.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect the brake switch connector.

3.

Ignition Switch "ON"

4.

Measure voltage of Pin No. 1(power) of the brake switch connector and chassis ground.

Specification : B+

5.

Ignition Switch "OFF"

6.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect the brake switch connector.

7.

Ignition Switch "ON"

8.

Measure voltage of Pin No. 1(brake switch power) of the brake switch connector and chassis ground.

Specification : B+

9.

Is the measured value withing specification?

▶ Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
■ Check stop lamp switch
1.

IG "OFF"

2.

Connect VMI to GDS and perform the oscilloscope.(2 Channel):

Channel A (+) : Pin No. 1 (power) terminal (brake switch side)

Channel A (-) : Ground

Channel B (+) : Pin No. 3 (Stop lamp switch power) terminal (brake switch side)

Channel B (-) : Ground

3.

IG "ON" & Engine "OFF"

4.

Inspection Condition : IG "ON" & Brake Pedal operating

Specification : Brake not operating - Pin No. 1 : Approx. 0V / Pin No. 3 : B+

Brake operating - Pin No. 1 : B+ / Pin No. 3 : Approx. 0V

5.

Is the measured value withing specification?

▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
