Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor connection. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration,or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Power Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Power Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "OFF"

2.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Direction Potentiometer connector.

3.

Ignition "ON"

4.

Measure voltage between Pin No. 6 (Power) terminal of direction potentiometer harness conenctor and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. 5V

5.

Is measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Ground Circuit Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair open or short in power circuit between Direction Potentiometer and A/C Control Module harness connector and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ground Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "OFF"

2.

Disconnect Battery (-) terminal.

3.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Direction Potentiometer connector.

4.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 4 (Ground) terminal of direction potentiometer harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. below 1 Ω

5.

Is measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair open or short in ground circuit between Direction Potentiometer and A/C Control Module harness connector and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "OFF"

2.

Disconnect Battery (-) terminal.

3.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Direction Potentiometer connector and A/C Control Module connector.

4.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 5 (Signal) terminal of direction potentiometer harness connector and Pin No. 7 (F/B) terminal of A/C control module harness connector.

Specification : Approx. below 1 Ω

5.

Ignition "OFF"

6.

Disconnect Battery (-) terminal.

7.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Direction Potentiometer connector.

8.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 5 (Signal) terminal of direction potentiometer harness connect and chassis ground.

Specification : Infinite(∞) Ω

9.

Is measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.
