LKAS is a device that maintains the vehicle within a lane by detecting the lane via a camera, calculating the vehicle position and the steering force required to keep the vehicle running in the center of the lane, and controlling the vehicle accordingly. The system consists of a LKAS unit, cluster, MDPS and power switch. LKAS provides reaction control mode that supports steering force to prevent the vehicle from getting out of a lane, and lane-keeping control mode that controls steering force to keep the vehicle running in the center of a lane. Based on vehicle speed signals transmitted via Cluster, LKAS determines the vehicle speed to control steering force.
While communicating with the Cluster module via CAN, if a signal is not received from Cluster, the LKAS module generates the fault code C165487 and turns on the Malfunction Indicator Lamp.
