Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.

Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to next procedure.

CAN communication circuit inspection
■ Check Open in CAN communication line.
1.

IG KEY OFF.

2.

Disconnect TPMS Module connector and Engine ECU connector.

3.

Measure the resistance between CAN-HIGH terminal of TPMS Module harness connector and CAN-HIGH terminal of Engine ECU harness connector.

4.

Measure the resistance between CAN-LOW terminal of TPMS Module harness connector and CAN-LOW terminal of Engine ECU harness connector.

5.

Is the measured value within specification ?

▶ Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the TPMS module’s connector or was repaired and TPMS module memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Substitute with a known-good TPMS Module and check for proper operation.

If the problem is corrected, replace TPMS Module and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair"

▶ Perfrom "Vehicle Name Writing", "Write VIN" and "Wheel Sensor ID Writing" in "Vehicle S/W Management" with GDS TPMS(Exciter) or drive vehicle with over 25 km/h for 10 minutes to complete auto-learning and auto-location, In case TPMS Module is replaced.

▶ Check for open/short in harness.

▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
