Camshaft removal is not required for this procedure.
It is possible to remove and reinstall the CVVL assembly. But it can cause the valve lift variation so do not replace the CVVL assembly with new one. It is possible to replace the bias spring in the CVVL assembly.
If the CVVL assembly replacement is necessary, replace the cylinder head assembly.
Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
To avoid damage, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion.
Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection.
Remove the cylinder head cover. (Refer to Timing system in this group)
Remove the CVVL position sensor (A).
Remove the CVVL position sensor magnet wheel (A).
Remove the camshaft bearing cap No. 5 (A).
Install the SST(09221-3L000) (A, B) to the intake/exhaust camshaft journal.
Remove the bearing caps.
Remove the CVVL shaft bearing caps.
Remove the camshaft bearing caps No.1~4.
Remove the CVVL assembly (A).
Remove the CVVL motor (A). (Refer to FL group)
It may cause damage to the warm gear of CVVL motor that CVVL assembly is removed and reinstalled without removing the CVVL motor.
