Install the intake camshaft assembly (A).
Install the CVVL assembly (A).
Install the CVVL assembly with the CVVL motor removed.
It may cause damage to the warm gear of CVVL motor that CVVL shaft bearing cap is reinstalled after installing the CVVL motor.
Install the CVVL shaft bearing cap (A).
Tightening torque :
11.8 ~ 13.7 N.m (1.2 ~ 1.4 kgf.m, 8.7 ~ 10.1 lb-ft)
Install the CVVL motor (A). (Refer to FL group)
Install the CVVL position sensor magnet wheel (A). (Refer to FL group)
Tightening torque :
9.8 ~ 11.8N.m (1.0 ~ 1.2kgf.m, 7.2 ~ 8.7lb-ft)
Install the CVVL position sensor (A). (Refer to FL group)
Tightening torque :
9.8 ~ 11.8N.m (1.0 ~ 1.2kgf.m, 7.2 ~ 8.7lb-ft)
Install the exhaust camshaft assembly.
Install the timing chain to intake CVVT sprocket, align the timing mark.
To make the piston of the tensioner compressed, loose the chain, pushing the tensioner arm by a handy bar (A).
Install the timing chain to exhaust CVVT sprocket, align the timing mark.
Install the exhaust camshaft assembly (B).
The timing marks of each CVVT sprocket should be matched with timing marks (painted link) of timing chain when installing the timing chain.
Install the camshaft bearing caps.
Tighten the bolts, in several passes, in the sequence as shown.
Tightening torque
M6 bolts:
11.8 ~ 13.7 N.m (1.2 ~ 1.4 kgf.m, 8.7 ~ 10.1 lb-ft)
M8 bolts:
18.6 ~ 22.6 N.m (1.9 ~ 2.3 kgf.m, 13.7 ~ 16.6 lb-ft)
Be careful not to change the position and direction of bearing caps.
Disconnect the long nose pliers form the chain tensioner.
Turn the crankshaft two turns in the operating direction (clockwise), and then check that the TDC marks of the CVVT sprockets are in straight line on the cylinder head surface.
If TDC mark of CVVT sprocket is not align, reinstall the timing chain.
Install the cam to cam guide (A).
Tightening torque :
9.8 ~ 11.8N.m (1.0 ~ 1.2kgf.m, 7.2 ~ 8.7lb-ft)
Install a service plug bolt (A) with a gasket (B).
Do not reuse the service plug bolt and gasket.
Install the engine mounting support bracket.
Install the engine mounting support bracket (B).
Tightening torque
Nut (C) :
88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)
Bolt (D), nuts (E) :
88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)
Remove the jack from the oil pan.
Connect the ground cable (A).
Install the vacuum pump (A).
Tightening torque :
18.6 ~ 22.6 N.m (1.9 ~ 2.3 kgf.m, 13.7 ~ 16.6 lb-ft)
Install the PCSV (Purge Control Solenoid Valve) hoses & pipe to the vacuum pump.
Tightening torque :
9.8 ~ 11.8N.m (1.0 ~ 1.2kgf.m, 7.2 ~ 8.7lb-ft)
Install the vacuum hoses & pipe (A).
Tightening torque :
9.8 ~ 11.8N.m (1.0 ~ 1.2kgf.m, 7.2 ~ 8.7lb-ft)
Install the cylinder head cover. (Refer to Timing System in this group)
After intake camshaft replacement, perform the automatic learning for CVVL valve lift adaptation values.
