Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.

Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Ground Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Ground Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "OFF".

2.

Disconnect Battery (-) terminal.

3.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Engine Oil Temperature Sensor (EOTS) and ECM/PCM connector.

4.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 2 (Ground) terminal of Engine Oil Temperature Sensor (EOTS) harness connector and Pin No. 58 (Ground) terminal of ECM/PCM harness connector.

Specification : Approx. below 1 Ω

5.

Is measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair open or short in ground circuit between Engine Oil Temperature Sensor (EOTS) and chassis ground and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "OFF".

2.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Engine Oil Temperature Sensor (EOTS) connector.

3.

Ignition "ON".

4.

Measure voltage between Pin No. 1 (Signal) terminal of Engine Oil Temperature Sensor (EOTS) harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. 5 V

5.

Is measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair open or short in signal circuit between Engine Oil Temperature Sensor (EOTS) and ECM/PCM and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.
