Connect GDS to Data Link Connector(DLC).

Ignition "ON".

3.

Monitor "Diagnostic Trouble Codes(DTC)" with GDS.

4.

Is DTC status displayed as Present?

	▶ Go to "Monitor GDS Data" procedure.
	▶ Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ignition "OFF".

2.

Connect GDS to Data Link Connector(DLC).

3.

Ignition "ON" & Engine "ON".

4.

Monitor following parameters in "Current Data" with GDS.

Specification : Refer to Figure below

Fig.1) Camshaft position and Synchronization(CKPS/CMPS) current data when ignition switch "ON" to Engine "ON" (Idle)

Is the parameter displayed within specification?

▶ Fault might be intermittent and caused either by poor contact in connectors or wiring harness, or it has been repaired and control module memory is not cleared yet. Thoroughly check terminal of battery, all connectors ( and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.

▶ Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to next procedure.

Ignition "OFF".

Connect VMI to GDS and set up an oscilloscope as follow (4-channel);

Channel A (+) : Pin No. 3 (Signal) terminal of CKPS.

Channel A (-) : Pin No. 3 (Signal) terminal of CMPS-Intake.

Channel B (+) : Pin No. 3 (Signal) terminal of CMPS-Exhaust.

Ignition "ON".

Specification : Refer to Figure below

Fig.1) Normal signal waveform of CKPS and CMPS-Exhaust at engine idle.

A : CKPS & CMPS-Exhaust) Syncronization - There are about 16~17 theeth between the CKPS missing tooth and CMPS Signal

Is measured value within specification?

▶ Fault might be intermittent and caused either by poor contact in connectors or wiring harness, or it has been repaired and control module memory is not cleared yet. Thoroughly check terminal of battery, all connectors ( and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.

▶ Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "System Inspection" procedure.
