Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.

Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "FR Terminal Circuit Inspection" procedure.

FR Terminal Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "OFF".

2.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Alternator connector.

3.

Ignition "ON".

4.

Measure voltage between Pin No. 3 (FR) terminal of Alternator harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. 9 ~ 11V

5.

Is measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "COM Terminal Circuit Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair open or short in FR terminal circuit and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

COM Terminal Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "OFF".

2.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Alternator connector.

3.

Ignition "ON".

4.

Measure voltage between Pin No. 1 (COM) terminal of Alternator harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. 0.8V

5.

Is measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair open or short in COM terminal circuit and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.
