Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found ?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to next procedure.

CAN Communication Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "OFF"

2.

Disconnect Battery (-) terminal.

3.

Disconnect BCM and SJB connector.

4.

Measure resistance between CAN High terminal of BCM harness connector and CAN High terminal of SJB harness connector.

5.

Measure resistance between CAN Low terminal of BCM harness connector and CAN Low terminal of SJB harness connector.

Specification : Approx. below 1 Ω

6.

Is measured value within specification ?

▶ Fault might be intermittent and caused either by poor contact in connectors or wiring harness, or it has been repaired and control module memory is not cleared yet. Thoroughly check terminal of battery, all connectors ( and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.

▶ Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Substitute with known-good BCM and then check for proper operation. If problem is corrected, replace BCM and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶Substitute with known-good SJB and then check for proper operation. If problem is corrected, replace SJB and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Repair open in CAN Communication circuit between BCM and SJB harness connector and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.
