Inspection
[Motor resistance inspection]
1.

Measure the resistance between motor terminal 1 and 2 after disconnecting the connector.

Coil resistance specification : 0.05 ~ 2.0Ω

[Component operation inspection]
2.

Remove the CVVL motor.

(Refer to Fuel system – “CVVL motor” removal)

3.

Check if the motor operates normally with supplying the battery voltage (12V) to CVVL motor terminals.

4.

Check if the motor operates reversely with supplying the battery voltage (12V) to CVVL motor terminals after changing (+) and (-).

Removal
1.

Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) cable.

2.

Remove the air intake hose.

(Refer to Engine Mechanical system - "Engine and transaxle assembly”)

3.

Remove the cylinder head cover.

(Refer to Engine Mechanical system - "Timing chain")

4.

Disconnect the CVVL motor connector (A).

5.

Remove the CVVL motor installation bolt (A).

6.

Remove the CVVL motor (A) after rotating the CVVL assembly gear in the direction of the arrow with the (-) driver.

note

When rotating the gear with driver, place the cloth on the cylinder block to prevent damage by working. But, the cloth should be careful not to go into the engine.

Installation
note

When installing the CVVL motor, Tighten the installation bolts after checking the motor side is fully in contact to the carrier to prevent that the motor rod is caught between gears

Be careful not to damage the worm gear of the motor.

note

Install the component with the specified torques.

Note that internal damage may occur when the component is dropped. If the component has been dropped, inspect before installing.

Be careful not to enter foreign matter into the cylinder head.

1.

Install the CVVL motor in the reverse of removal.

CVVL motor installation bolt: 9.8 ~ 11.8 N.m (1.0 ~ 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 ~ 8.7 lb-ft)
