Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Disconnect the ECTS and PCM connectors and inspect for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration or damage. Reconnect the connectors.

2.

Connect the GDS and go to ""Current Data"".

3.

Monitor ECTS values in Current Data, check and wiggle the harness(es), connector(s), and terminal(s).

4.

Any change in the values indicates a poor connection. Was a connector problem found?

▶ Repair the connector. Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
■ Check voltage
1.

IG "OFF". Disconnect ECTS connector.

2.

IG "ON".

3.

Measure voltage between signal terminal of ECTS harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. 3.3V

4.

Is the measured voltage within specification ?

▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

▶ Go to "Check short to ground in harness" procedure.

■ Check short to ground in harness
5.

IG "OFF". Disconnect ECTS connector and PCM connector.

6.

Measure resistance between signal terminal of ECTS harness connector and chassis ground.(Measurement "A")

7.

Measure resistance between signal and ground terminals of ECTS harness connector.(Measurement "B")

Specification : Infinite

8.

Is the measured resistance within specification ?

▶ Go to "Component inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair short to ground in harness. Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
