Removal And Installaion
1.

Disconnect the battery "-" terminal.

2.

Remove the air cleaner assembly.

(Refer to Intake And Exhaust System-"Air Cleaner")

3.

Remove the engine room under cover.

4.

Loosen the drain plug and drain the engine coolant.

(Refer to Cooling System - "Coolant")

5.

Remove the front bumper cover.

(Refer to Body - "Front Bumper cover")

6.

Disconnect the radiator upper hose (A) and lower hose (B).

note

When installing radiator hoses, install as shown in illustrations.

7.

Disconnect the fan motor connector (A) beside the wiring harness.

8.

Remove the air intake shield (A).

9.

Disconnect the ATF cooler hose.

(Refer to Automatic Transaxle System - "Automatic Transaxle")

10.

Remove the upper air guard (A).

Tightening torque :

2.75 ~ 3.24 N.m (0.28 ~ 0.33 kgf.m, 2.0 ~ 2.3 lb-ft)

11.

Disconnect the over flow hose (A).

12.

Remove the horn.

(Refer to Body Electrical System - "Hron")

13.

Remove the side air guard (A).

Tightening toraue :

7.8 ~ 11.8 N.m (0.8 ~ 1.2 Kgf.m, 5.8 ~ 8.7 Ib-ft)

14.

Loosen the cooling fan mounting bolts (B) and then disconnect the cooling fan assembly (A) from radiator.

Tightening torque :

4.91 ~ 7.85 N.m (0.5 ~ 0.8 kgf.m, 3.6 ~ 5.8 lb-ft)

15.

Remove the radiator upper bracket (A).

Tightening toraue :

7.8 ~ 11.8 N.m (0.8 ~ 1.2 Kgf.m, 5.8 ~ 8.7 Ib-ft)

16.

Separate the A/C condesor (A) from the radiator assembly (B).

17.

Pull the radiator up and then remove the radiator from the vehicle.

18.

Install in the reverse order of removal.

19.

Fill the radiator with coolant.

(Refer to Cooling System - "Coolant")

20.

Start the engine and check for leaks.

note

Bleed air from the cooling system.

-

Start engine and let it run until it warms up. (Until the radiator fan operates 3 or 4 times.)

-

Turn off engine. Check the coolant level and add coolant if needed.

This will allow trapped air to be removed from the cooling system.

-

Put the radiator cap on tightly, then run engine again and check for leaks.

Inspection
Radiator Cap Testing
1.

Remove the radiator cap, wet its seal with engine coolant, and then install it on a pressure tester.

2.

Apply a pressure of 79.43 ~ 122.58 kpa (0.81 ~ 1.25 kg/cm², 11.52 ~ 17.78 psi).

3.

Check for a drop in pressure.

4.

If the pressure drops, replace the cap.

Radiator Leakage Test
1.

Wait until engine is cool, then carefully remove the radiator cap and fill the radiator with engine coolant, then install it on the pressure tester.

2.

Apply a pressure tester to the radiator and apply a pressure of 79.43 ~ 122.58 kpa (0.81 ~ 1.25 kg/cm², 11.52 ~ 17.78 psi).

3.

Inspect for engine coolant leaks and a drop in pressure.

4.

Remove the tester and reinstall the radiator cap.

note

Check for engine oil in the coolant and/or coolant in the engine oil.
