Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Disconnect the CKPS and PCM connectors and inspect for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration or damage. Reconnect the connectors.

2.

Connect the GDS and go to ""Current Data"".

3.

Monitor RPM value in Current Data, check and wiggle the harness(es), connector(s), and terminal(s).

4.

Any change in the values indicates a poor connection. Was a connector problem found?

▶ Repair the connector. Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to " Signal Circuit Inspection " procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
■ Check voltage
1.

IG "OFF". Disconnect CKPS connector.

2.

IG "ON".

3.

Measure voltage between low signal terminal of CKPS harness connector and chassis ground.

4.

Measure voltage between high signal terminal of CKPS harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. 2.5V

5.

Is the measured voltage within specification ?

▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

▶ Go to "Check short in harness" as follows.

■ Check short in harness
6.

IG "OFF". Disconnect CKPS connector and PCM connector.

7.

Measure resistance between low(high) signal terminal of CKPS harness connector and chassis ground.(Measurement "A")

8.

Measure resistance between low signal and high signal terminals of CKPS harness connector.(Measurement "B")

Specification : Infinite

9.

Is the measured resistance within specification?

▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair short in harness. Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
