Terminal and Connector inspection
1.

Disconnect the VIS 1 and PCM connectors and inspect for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration or damage. Reconnect the connectors.

2.

Connect the GDS and go to "Current Data".

3.

Monitor VIS 1 values in Current Data, check and wiggle the harness(es), connector(s), and terminal(s).

4.

Any change in the values indicates a poor connection. Was a connector problem found?

▶ Repair the connector. Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to " Power Circuit Inspection " procedure.

Power Circuit Inspection
■ Check voltage
1.

IG "OFF". Disconnect VIS 1 connector.

2.

IG "ON"

3.

Measure voltage between power terminal of VIS 1 harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. B+ (Battery Voltage)

4.

Is the measured voltage within specification ?

▶ Go to "Control Circuit Inspection" procedure.

▶ Check fuse connected to power of VIS 1 for open or blown-off.

▶ Repair open or short to ground in harness. Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Control Circuit Inspection
■ Check short to ground in harness
1.

IG "OFF". Disconnect VIS 1 connector and PCM connector.

2.

Measure resistance between control terminal of VIS 1 harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Infinite

3.

Is the measured resistance within specification ?

▶ Go to "Check open in harness" as follows.

▶ Repair short to ground in harness. Go to " Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

■ Check open in harness
4.

IG "OFF". Disconnect VIS 1 connector and PCM connector.

5.

Measure resistance between control terminal of VIS 1 harness connector and VIS 1 control terminal of PCM harness connector.

Specification : Below 1Ω

6.

Is the measured resistance within specification ?

▶ Go to " Component Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair open in harness, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
