The yaw rate sensor, lateral G sensor, longitudinal G sensor are packaged in the IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit).
If the yaw velocity reaches the specific velocity after IMU detects the vehicle's yawing, the ESP(ESC) control is activated.
IMU is installed in SRSCM and it interchanges signals with HECU through extra CAN line which is only used for communication between HECU and the IMU.
A failure is detected if the IMU message was not received or the HECU detects the sensor CAN Bus off state in CAN bus which is used for communication with IMU for more than the specified failure detection time.
Item | Detecting Condition | Possible cause
Case 1 | DTC Strategy |
•
IMU message monitoring | 1. Faulty IMU(SRSCM) 2. Open or short of IMU(SRSCM) |
Enable Conditions |
•
In case that IMU message was not received for more than 500ms within normal voltage condition
Case 2 | DTC Strategy |
•
Open, short monitoring
Enable Conditions |
•
In case sensor CAN BUS off state continued for more than 100ms.
Case 3 | DTC Strategy |
•
HECU message monitoring
Enable Conditions |
•
In case that HECU message was not sent to SRSCM for more than 500ms within normal voltage condition.
Case 4 | DTC Strategy |
•
The power voltage of the SRSCM monitoring
Enable Conditions |
•
In case that SRSCM stops sending message due to out of power voltage of the SRSCM
Fail Safe |
•
2WD vehicle : Inhibit the ESP(ESC) control and allow the ABS/EBD control, the ESP(ESC) warning lamp is activated
•
4WD vehicle : Inhibit the ABS/ESP(ESC) control and allow the EBD control, the ABS/ESP(ESC) warning lamp is activated ※ Case 2, 4 : The ESP(ESC)/SRSCM warning lamp is activated |
