If the high pressure fuel pump, high pressure fuel pipes, common rail or injectors are removed immediately after the engine stops, it can cause injury for high pressured fuel leakage.
Do not work immediately after the engine stops.
Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
To avoid damage, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion.
Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection.
Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
Remove the engine cover.
Remove the RH side front wheel.
(Refer to Suspension System - "Wheel")
Remove the engine room under cover and RH side cover.
(Refer to Engine And Transaxle Assembly - "Engine Room Under Cover")
Remove the drive belt.
(Refer to Timing System - "Drive Belt")
Remove the cylinder head cover.
(Refer to Cylinder Head Assembly - "Cylinder Head Cover")
Remove the power steering pump. (HPS only)
(Refer to Steering System - "Power Steering Oil Pump")
With A/C : Remove the A/C compressor.
(Refer to Heating, Ventilation Air conditioning - "Compressor")
Without A/C : Remove the dummy pulley bracket assembly.
Tightening torque :
19.6 ~ 26.5 N.m (2.0 ~ 2.7 kgf.m, 14.5 ~ 19.5 lb-ft)
Remove the lower oil pan and upper oil pan.
(Refer to Lubrication System - "Oil Pan")
Disconnect the engine ground line (A).
Remove the engine mounting support bracket.
Install the jack under the edge of the cylinder block to support the engine.
Put the rubber block between jack and cylinder block to avoid damaging the cylinder block.
Remove the engine mounting support bracket (A).
Tightening torque :
88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)
Remove the alternator.
(Refer to Engine Electrical System - "Alternator")
Remove the fead system bracket assembly (A).
Tightening torque
M8 bolts :
19.6 ~ 26.5 N.m (2.0 ~ 2.7 kgf.m, 14.5 ~ 19.5 lb-ft)
M10 bolts :
42.2 ~ 53.9 N.m (4.3 ~ 5.5 kgf.m, 31.1 ~ 39.8 lb-ft)
Remove the engine support bracket (A).
Tightening torque :
42.2 ~ 53.9 N.m (4.3 ~ 5.5 kgf.m, 31.1 ~ 39.8 lb-ft)
Remove the drive belt idler #2.
(Refer to Timing System - "Idler")
Remove the crankshaft damper pulley.
(Refer to Timing System - "Crankshaft Damper Pulley")
Remove the timing chain cover (A).
Remove thoroughly sealant, oil and etc. left at the sealing surface after removing the chain cover and oil pan. (If any impurities are left at the sealing surface, oil may leak after reassembling even with the sealant application.)
