Remove the RH side front wheel.
(Refer to Suspension System - "Wheel")
Remove the engine room under cover and RH side cover.
(Refer to Engine And Transaxle Assembly - "Engine Room Under Cover")
Drain engine coolant so that its level would be under the water pump height.
(Refer to Cooling System - "Coolant")
Remove the drive belt.
(Refer to Timing System - "Drive Belt")
Remove the water pump pulley (A).
Tightening torque :
7.8 ~ 11.8 N.m (0.8 ~ 1.2 kgf.m, 5.8 ~ 8.7 lb-ft)
Remove the water pump (A) with the gasket (B).
Tightening torque :
19.6 ~ 24.5 N.m (2.0 ~ 2.5 kgf.m, 14.5 ~ 18.1 lb-ft)
When installing the water pump, use a new gasket.
Remove the oil level gauge & guide assembly. (Euro 5 only)
(Refer to Lubrication System - "Oil Level Gauge & Guide")
Remove the emergency filter (A). (Euro 5 only)
Tightening torque :
19.6 ~ 24.5 N.m (2.0 ~ 2.5 kgf.m, 14.5 ~ 18.1 lb-ft)
Remove the low pressure EGR valve. (Euro 5 only)
(Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - "Low Pressure EGR valve")
Remove the water pump cover (A) with the gasket.
Tightening torque :
19.6 ~ 24.5 N.m (2.0 ~ 2.5 kgf.m, 14.5 ~ 18.1 lb-ft)
Remove the bolts then pull the water pump cover forward from the water pipe.
When installing the water pump cover, use a new gasket.
When assembling the water pipe and the water pump cover, keep the surface of O-ring from dust and oil.
Be careful no to damage the surface of the O-ring. And apply a coat of alhorm (BW-0431) or equivalent (not engine oil).
Install in the reverse order of removal.
Fill the radiator with coolant.
(Refer to Cooling System - "Coolant")
Start engine and check for leaks.
Check each part for cracks, damage or wear, and replace the water pump assembly if necessary.
Check the bearing for damage, abnormal noise and sluggish rotation, and replace the water pump assembly if necessary.
Check for coolant leakage. If coolant leaks from hole, the seal is defective. Replace the water pump assembly.
A small amount of "weeping" from the bleed hole is normal.
