Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.
Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage
Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration,or damage.
Has a problem been found ?
![]() | ▶ Go to next procedure. |
![]() | ▶ Fault is intermittent and caused either by poor contact in connectors or wiring harness, or it has been repaired and EPS/MDPS ECU memory is not cleared yet. Thoroughly check all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage. ▶ Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. |
Ignition "OFF"
Disconnect EPS connector and ESP(VDC) ECU connector
Measure the resistance between CAN-HIGH terminal of EPS harness connector and CAN-HIGH terminal of ESP(VDC) ECU harness connector.
Measure the resistance between CAN-LOW terminal of EPS harness connector and CAN-LOW terminal of ESP(VDC) ECU harness connector.
Specification : below 1Ω
Is the measured registance within specification ?
![]() | ▶ Check EPS(MDPS) ECU connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. ▶ Go to next procedure. |
![]() | ▶ If the measured value is ∞ Ω, repair or replace the open in CAN High /CAN Low circuit. And then, go to 'Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. |
IG KEY OFF.
Measure resistnace between CAN high terminal (
Is the measured resistance within specification ?
![]() | ▶ Check all module connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. ▶ Go to next procedure |
![]() | ▶ Check for short to ground in harness. ▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. |
IG KEY OFF
Disconnect ECM/PCM connector and Cluster connector.
Measure resistance between terminal CAN Low and CAN High of ECM/PCM.
Specification : About 120 Ω
Is the measured resistance within specification ?
![]() | ▶ Check ECM/PCM, EPS ECU and Cluster connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. ▶ Go to next procedure. |
![]() | ▶ Substitute with a known-good "EPS, ESP(VDC)" and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace "ECM/PCM, Cluster" and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. |
