Terminal and connection Inspection
1.

Disconnect the Starter Relay connectors and inspect for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration or damage. Reconnect the connectors.

2.

Connect the GDS and go to “Current Data”.

3.

Monitor Starter Relay values in Current Data, check and wiggle the harness(es), connector(s), and terminal(s).

4.

Any change in the values indicates a poor connection. Was a connector problem found?

▶ Repair the connector. Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to next step as below

Control Circuit Inspection
■ Check Short in control circuit
1.

IG "OFF".

2.

Disconnect Starter Relay.

3.

IG "ON"

4.

Measure the voltage between control terminal of Starter Relay harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx 4.3V

5.

Is the measured voltage within specification ?

▶ Go to " Output Power Circuit Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair Short to ground in control circuit, and go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

Output Power Circuit Insepection
■ Check Open in power circuit
1.

IG "OFF".

2.

Disconnect Starter Relay.

3.

Measure the resistance between power supply to starter relay and Starter motor ST terminal

Specification : below 1Ω

4.

Is the measured resistance within specification ?

▶ Go to "Component inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair Open or Short to ground in control circuit, and go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.
