Terminal and Connection Inspection
1.

Disconnect the Stop Lamp Switch and PCM/ECM connectors and inspect for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration or damage. Reconnect the connectors.

2.

Connect the GDS and go to “Current Data”.

3.

Monitor Stop Lamp Switch values in Current Data, check and wiggle the harness(es), connector(s), and terminal(s).

4.

Any change in the values indicates a poor connection. Was a connector problem found?

▶ Repair the connector. Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Power Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Power Circuit Inspection
■ Check voltage
1.

IG "OFF". Disconnect Stop Lamp Switch connector.

2.

Measure voltage between Brake Light Switch terminal and chassis ground.

3.

Measure voltage between Brake Test Switch terminal and chassis ground.

4.

IG "ON".

5.

Measure voltage between Brake Light Switch terminal and chassis ground.

6.

Measure voltage between Brake Test Switch terminal and chassis ground.

7.

Is the measured voltage within specification ?

▶ Go to next procedure.

▶ Check fuse between battery and Stop Lamp Switch.

▶ Check for Open or Short in power circuit.

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
■ Check open in harness
1.

IG "OFF". Disconnect stop lamp switch and PCM/ECM connector.

2.

Measure resistance between both ends of Brake Lamp Switch line.

3.

Measure resistance between both ends of Brake Test Switch line.

4.

Measure resistance between Brake Light Switch terminal of Switch harness connector and chassis ground.

5.

Measure resistance between Brake Test Switch terminal of Switch harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Below 1Ω (Only for No.3) / Infinite (Only for No.4)

6.

Is resistance within specification?

▶ Go to next procedure.

▶ In case of No.3 : Repair Open in signal circuit and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ In case of No.4 : Repair Short in signal circuit and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
