Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Disconnect the Fuel Pump Relay and PCM/ECM connectors and inspect for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration or damage. Reconnect the connectors.

2.

Connect the GDS and go to “Current Data”.

3.

Monitor Fuel Pump Relay value in Current Data, check and wiggle the harness(es), connector(s), and terminal(s).

4.

Any change in the values indicates a poor connection. Was a connector problem found?

▶ Repair the connector. Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Power Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Power Circuit Inspection
■ Check voltage
1.

IG "OFF". Remove fuel pump relay.

2.

IG "ON".

3.

Measure voltage between battery power supply terminals of fuel pump relay harness and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. B+

4.

Is the measured voltage within specification ?

▶ Go to "Signal circuit inspection" procedure.

▶ Check "Fuse" between fuel pump relay and main relay is not installed or blown off.

▶ Check "Fuse" between fuel pump relay and battery is not installed or blown off.

▶ Check the Main relay that is not installed or blown off.

▶ Repair or replace power circuits to relay as necessary. Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Control Circuit Inspection
■ Check voltage
1.

IG "OFF". Remove fuel pump relay.

2.

IG "ON".

3.

Measure voltage between fuel pump relay control terminal of Fuel pump relay harness and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. 4.5 V

4.

Is the measured voltage within specification ?

▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair open or short as necessary. Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
