Continuously Variable Valve Timing(CVVT) offers an ability to have independent control of the intake and exhaust valves. This system varies the valve timing by shifting the phase angle of the camshafts. CVVT consists of OCV(Oil Control Valve) and Cam Phaser. Purpose of OCV is to control the amount and direction of oil delivered to Cam Phaser according to engine load criteria. Cam Phaser enables the cam lobe(lift event) timing to crank shaft timing to be changed while engine is operating. The shifting the phase angle of the camshaft is controlled by OCV which is mounted in the cylinder head and regulate engine oil flow. CVVT helps increase engine efficiency, improving idle stability while delivering more torque and horsepower. It also helps boost fuel economy and reduces exhaust emissions.
