Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

Has a problem been found?

	▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification Vehicle Repair" procedure.
	▶ Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection".

Ignition off & Engine off.

Disconnected "Sports mode switch" connector and "TCM" connector.

Measure resistance between "Select swtch" connector's control terminal of Sports mode switch harness and "Select swtch" connector's control terminal of TCM TCM harness.

Measure resistance between "Select swtch" connector's control terminal of Sports mode switch harness and chassis ground.

Is the measured resistance within specification?

	▶ Go to "2.Circuit open & Circuit short Inspection (Up shift)" procedure.
	▶ Check circuit short/open of control harness and go to "Verification Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ignition off & Engine off.

Disconnected "Sports mode switch" connector and "TCM" connector.

Measure resistance between "Up shift" connector's control terminal of Sports mode switch harness and "Up shift" connector's control terminal of TCM TCM harness.

Measure resistance between "Up shift" connector's control terminal of Sports mode switch harness and chassis ground.

Is the measured resistance within specification?

	▶ Go to "Circuit open & Circuit short Inspection (Down shift)" procedure.
	▶ Check circuit short/open of control harness and go to "Verification Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ignition off & Engine off.

Disconnected "Sports mode switch" connector and "TCM" connector.

Measure resistance between "Down shift" connector's control terminal of Sports mode switch harness and "Down shift" connector's control terminal of TCM TCM harness.

Measure resistance between "Down shift" connector's control terminal of Sports mode switch harness and chassis ground.

Is the measured resistance within specification?

	▶ Go to "Ground Circuit Inspection" procedure.
	▶ Check circuit short/open of control harness and go to "Verification Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ignition off & Engine off.

Disconnected "Sports mode switch" connector.

Measure "burn-in" between Sports mode switch harness and chassis ground.

Is the measured continuity ?

	▶ Substitute with a known-good Sports mode switch and check for proper operation.If the problem is corrected, replace Sports mode switch and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
	▶ Check harness for circuit short and go to "Verification Vehicle Repair" procedure. ▶ If harness is normal then, Substitute with a known-good TCM and check for proper operation.If the problem is corrected, replace TCM and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
