Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
To avoid damage, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion.
Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection.
Remove the drive belt.
(Refer to Timing System - "Drive Belt")
Remove the alternator.
(Refer to Engine Electrical System - "Alternator")
Remove the alternator bracket (A).
Tightening torque :
19.6 ~ 26.5 N.m (2.0 ~ 2.7 kgf.m, 14.5 ~ 19.5 lb-ft)
Remove the drive belt idler.
(Refer to Timing System - "Idler")
Remove the power steering oil pump pulley (A). (With HPS only)
Tightening torque :
53.9 ~ 67.6 N.m (5.5 ~ 6.9 kgf.m, 39.8 ~ 49.9 lb-ft)
Remove the drive belt auto tensioner. (With HPS only)
(Refer to Timing System - "Drive Belt Tensioner")
Remove the water pump.
(Refer to Cooling System - "Water Pump")
Remove the cylinder head cover.
(Refer to Cylinder Head Assembly - "Cylinder Head Cover")
Remove the engine mounting support bracket.
Install a jack under the edge of the oil pan to support the engine.
Put the rubber block between the jack and the oil pan to avoid damaging the oil pan.
Remove the engine mounting support bracket (A).
Tightening torque
Nut (B) :
88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)
Bolt (C) and nuts (D) :
58.8 ~ 73.5 N.m (6.0 ~ 7.5 kgf.m, 43.3 ~ 54.2 lb-ft)
Remove the engine support bracket (A).
Tightening torque :
29.4 ~ 41.2 N.m (3.0 ~ 4.2 kgf.m, 21.7 ~ 30.4 lb-ft)
Remove the crankshaft damper pulley.
(Refer to Timing System - "Crankshaft Damper Pulley")
Remove the timing chain cover (A).
Remove thoroughly sealant, oil and etc. left at the sealing surface after removing the chain cover and oil pan. (If any impurities are left at the sealing surface, oil may leak after reassembling even with the sealant application.)
