Disconnect the ECTS and PCM/ECM connectors and inspect for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration or damage. Reconnect the connectors.
Connect the GDS and go to “Current Data”.
Monitor ECTS values in Current Data, check and wiggle the harness(es), connector(s), and terminal(s).
Any change in the values indicates a poor connection. Was a connector problem found?

IG "OFF". Disconnect ECTS connector.
Measure the resistance between ground terminal of ECTS harness connector and chassis ground.

Is the resistance within the specification?

![]() | ▶ Repair open circuit and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. |
IG "OFF". Disconnect ECTS connector and PCM/ECM connector.
IG "ON" & ENG "OFF"
Measure the voltage between signal terminal of the sensor harness connector and chassis ground.
Specification : Approx. 5V
Is voltage within the specification?

![]() | ▶ Check for short to battery or open in signal harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. |
IG "OFF". Disconnect ECTS connector and PCM/ECM connector.
Measure the resistance between signal terminal of ECTS harness connector and signal connector of PCM/ECM harness connector.
Specification : Approx. 0Ω
Is the resistance within the specification?
