Terminal & Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to " Power Circuit Inspection " procedure.

Power Circuit Inspection
1.

IG "OFF".

2.

Disconnect CMPS connector.

3.

IG "ON" & ENG "OFF".

4.

Measure the voltage between power terminal of CMPS harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. 12V

5.

Is the measured voltage within specification?

▶ Go to "Signal circuit inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair or replace as necessary and then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
■ Check Open or Short in signal circuit
1.

IG "OFF".

2.

Disconnect CMPS connector.

3.

IG "ON" & ENG "OFF".

4.

Measure the voltage between signal terminal of CMPS harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification :Approx 5V

5.

Is the measured voltage within specification?

▶ Go to "Short to power circuit inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair or replace as necessary and then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

■ Check Short to power in signal circuit
6.

IG "OFF".

7.

Disconnect CMPS connector and ECM connector.

8.

Measure the resistance between power and signal terminal of CMPS harness connector.

Specification :Infinite

9.

Is the measured resistance within specification?

▶ Go to "Ground circuit inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair Short to ground in signal circuit and then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ground Circuit Inspection
■ Check Open in ground circuit
1.

IG "OFF".

2.

Disconnect CMPS connector.

3.

IG "ON" & ENG "OFF".

4.

Measure voltage between power terminal of CMPS harness connector and chassis ground.(A)

5.

Measure voltage between power and ground terminals of CMPS harness connector.(Measurement "B")

Specification : The Difference between "A" and "B" is below 200mV.

6.

Is the measured voltage within specification ?

▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair or replace as necessary and then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
