Component Inspection
■ Inspection CAN Waveform
1.

IG "OFF" and connect each channel scope to CAN-HIGH terminal and CAN-LOW terminal.

2.

IG "ON" after disconnecting only ECM to CAN BUS.

3.

IG "ON" after disconnecting only VDC ECU to CAN BUS.

4.

IG "ON" after disconnecting only Instrument Cluster to CAN BUS.

Specification : At Ignition "ON", the waveform is same as the one of "Signal Waveform & Data".

Fig.1) Normal Waveform with ignition ON.

Monitoring CAN HIGH and LOW simultaneously is important in monitoring CAN communication waveform. When CAN HIGH signal rise to 3.5V and LOW signal drops to 1.5V - voltage difference between HIGH and LOW signal is 2V.

■ Inspection CAN Resistance
5.

IG Key "OFF".

6.

Measure the resistance between CAN-HIGH and CAN-LOW terminals of data link connector (Measurement "A")

7.

Disconnect ECM,Instrument Cluster, and ABS/ESC ECU connector.

8.

Measure the resistance between CAN-HIGH and CAN-LOW terminals of data link connector (Measurement "B")

Specification :

ECM, Instrument Cluster and ABS/ESC ECU connected : Approx. 60Ω (Measurement "A")

ECM disconnected : Approx. 120Ω (Measurement "B")

■ Confirm CAN Inspection
9.

CAN waveform and resistance normal?

▶ Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Repair CAN BUS lines and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
