Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect the auto defogging connector.
Verify that the auto defogging actuator operates to the open position when connecting 12V to the terminal 3 and grounding terminal 7.
Verify that the auto defogging actuator operates to the close position when connecting in the reverse.

Connect the auto defogging actuator connector.
Turn the ignition switch ON.
Check the voltage between terminals 6 and 5.
Door position | Voltage (V) | Error detecting |
Defog OFF (Close) | 0.3 ± 0.15 | Low voltage : 0.1V or less |
Defog ON (Open) | 4.7 ± 0.15 | High voltage : 4.9V or more |
It will feedback the current position of the actuator to the controls.
If the measured voltage is not within specification, substitute with a known-good auto defogging actuator and check for proper operation.
Replace the auto defogging actuator if it is proved that there is a problem with it.
Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
Remove the glove box housing.
(Refer to Body -"Glove Box Housing")
Remove the passenger's side shower duct by loosening the screw.
Disconnect the connector (A) and then remove the auto defogging actuator (B) after loosening the mounting screws.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
