To remove the back panel, drill out and grind away all spotwelds and MIG lap weld attaching the back panel.
Remove the back panel.
Measure and mark the cutline on the rear floor side rear member section. Cut the rear floor side rear member section along the cutline.
When cutting the rear floor side rear member section, take care not to cut through the mating flanges or the hitch trailer mounting reinforcement.
Drill out all spotwelds attaching the rear floor side rear member section.
Remove the rear floor side rear member section.
Measure and mark the cutline on the hitch trailer mounting reinforcement. Cut the hitch trailer mounting reinforcement along the cutline.
Drill out all spotwelds attaching the rear floor side rear member.
Remove the rear floor side rear member.
Straighten all flanges as necessary, prepare all surfaces to be welded.
Prepare all surfaces to be welded.
After removing, apply the welding primer.
Measure and mark the cutlines on the new rear floor side rear member and hitch trailer mounting reinforcement. Cut the rear floor side rear member and hitch trailer mounting reinforcement along the cutlines.
Drill 8mm holes along the new rear floor side rear member flanges for MIG plug welding.
Fit and clamp the new rear floor side rear member in place.
Measure each measurement point and correct the installation position.
MIG plug weld all holes and MIG butt weld the seam.
Clean and prepare all welds, remove all residues.
After removing, apply the welding primer.
Reattach the cut rear floor side rear member section, then MIG plug weld all holes and MIG butt weld the seam.
Clean and prepare all welds, remove all residues.
After removing, apply the welding primer.
Drill 8mm holes along the new back panel flanges for MIG plug welding.
Fit and clamp the back panel in place.
Measure each measurement point (Refer to the BODY DIMENSIONS) and correct the installation position.
MIG plug weld all holes.
Clean and prepare all welds, remove all residues.
Apply the epoxy primer to the interior of the back panel.
Apply an anti-corrosion to the interior of the back panel (Refer to the CORROSION PROTECTION).
Prepare exterior surfaces for priming, using wax and grease remover.
Apply metal conditioner and water rinse.
Apply conversion coating and water rinse.
Apply the correct seam sealer to all joints (Refer to the BODY SEALING LOCATIONS).
Reprime over the seam sealer to complete the repair.
