Description

First of all check damage of harness and terminals : Check terminals for contact resistance, corrosion and deformation.

When battery power is not supplied to glow plug although glow plug relay circuit is normal, Inspect the glow plug relay.

Diagnostic Procedure
Glow plug relay coil resistance inspection
1.

IG KEY "OFF", ENGINE "OFF"

2.

Remove the glow relay.

3.

Before measuring resistance, you must calibrate(0Ω) the tester.

note

Refer to "Multimeter calibration" of detail inspections (Equipment settings).

4.

Measure the resistance between terminal "85" and terminal "86".

A.

Specification : 55Ω ± 10 % (20℃)

5.

Measure the resistance between terminal "30" and terminal "87".

A.

Specification : Discontinuity (Infinite Ω)

6.

Actuate the relay by suppling battery power and chassis ground at terminal "85", "86".

☞ Inspect operating sound in the glow relay when power is supplied.

7.

Measure the resistance between glow rely component terminal "30" and "87".

A.

Specification : Continuity (below 1.0 Ω)

※ If trouble symptom occurs intermittently although relay is operated well as above, Inspect the inside of the relay.

☞ Make sure of damage of the relay cover.

☞ Contact : Inspect contact connection and carbon deposit by spark.

☞ Coil : Inspect partial damage by coil short and enamel coating damage.

Case1

● High resistance of the glow relay coil (Open)

● In case that glow relay is not operated by high resistance (open) of the relay coil.

☞ Replace the glow relay.

Case2

● Low resistance of the glow relay coil (Short)

● In case that glow relay is not operated by low resistance (short) of the relay coil.

☞ Replace the glow relay.

Case3

● Intermittent poor connection between contacts. (Glow relay coil is normal.)

● In case of intermittent poor connection,
