Description

To remove high pressure fuel system, Never perform any work engine running or within 1 minutes after the engine stops. It is recommended to wear safety glasses. Ensure the absolute cleanliness to prevent an inrush of foreign substances in high pressure fuel system.

Engine stalls and engine starting is impossible when rail pressure is higher than set point rail pressure. Perform the test as below to check the rail pressure regulator.

Diagnostic Procedure
Fuel pressure regulator (pump) inspection

※ Fuel pressure regulator (pump)Stuck test

☞ After disconnecting rail pressure regulator(pump) connector, Rail pressure should not be increased at cranking.

☞ While cranking (disconnecting the fuel pressure regulator(pump) connector) when rail pressure regulator(pump) is actuated by using PRV Control Cable (CRT-1044).

→ Common rail fuel pressure must be increased to the maximum pressure.

Symptom

Inspection procedure

Case1

● After disconnecting rail pressure regulator(pump) connector, Rail pressure is increased at cranking.

● Fuel pressure regulator (pump) is open stuck.

● Replace the high pressure pump assembly.

Case2

● After rail pressure regulator(pump) actuation test by using PRV control cable (CRT-1044), Rail pressure is not increased at cranking.

● After low pressure fuel system inspection (Low pressure fuel system must be inspected), If low pressure fuel system is normal, Replace the high pressure pump assembly (Suspected cause : High pressure pump performance is NOT good or rail pressure regulator(pump) is closed stuck.)
