First of all check damage of harness and terminals : Check terminals for contact resistance, corrosion and deformation.When engine cranking is impossible although adjustment of inhibitor switch is normal, Inspect the starting system circuit.

Measure the voltage of the start relay terminal. (Junction box side)

Symptom

Inspection procedure

Case1

● Battery voltage is NOT supplied at terminal '1'.

● Repair fusible link blown. (The fusible link supplies battery power to start relay)

● If fusible link is blown again, Repair short to ground in power supply circuit.

● If fusible link is NOT blown, Replace the E/R junction box.

Case2

● Battery voltage is NOT supplied on the terminal '5' at IG KEY 'START'.

● Repair fuse blown. [The fuse supplies battery power to start relay coil]

● If fuse is NOT blown, Repair open in start relay coil power supply circuit.

Check for continuity between start relay terminal '3' and chassis ground at cranking(ST).

A/T : Select lever should be 'P(N)'.

M/T : Step on the clutch pedal.

■ Specification : Continuity (Below 1.0 Ω)

Symptom		Inspection procedure
Case1	● In case that the resistance is high or discontinuity.	● Repair open in start relay control circuit between terminal '3' of the start relay and ECM (through inhibitor switch or clutch switch) or poor connection of ground terminal.

Actuate the start relay using jump wire between terminal '1' and terminal '2' directly.

■ Starter should be actuated.

Symptom

Inspection procedure

Case1

● Starter is NOT actuated. (After connecting terminal '1' and terminal '2' directly.)

● Repair open between terminal '2' of start relay and ST terminal of starter.

● If ST signal circuit is normal, Replace the starter after checking B+ terminal normal, starter ground.

Case2

● Starter is actuated well. (After connecting terminal '1' and terminal '2' directly.)

● Go to "Start relay inspection".
