Some markets have an Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) function. When a vehicle is in an emergency stop condition, the brake lamp blinks to inform the vehicle behind of the emergency stop. While this function is operating, ESS brake lamp relay flashes the brake lamp.
The HECU monitors the ESS brake lamp relay (ESS) relay for normal operation. If there is an open or short in the relay circuit, this DTC is set.
Item | Detecting Condition | Possible cause |
DTC Strategy |
•
Voltage Monitoring | 1. Open or short in the ESS brake lamp relay(ESS relay) circuit 2. Faulty ESS brake lamp relay(ESS relay) |
Monitoring Period |
•
During ESS activation, the fault is detected with mismatch between the corresponding lamp actuation signal and electrical feedback signal more than 600ms. | |
Fail-Safe |
•
Inhibit the ESS control and allow the ABS/EBD/ESP control. |
